Dear Artisan,
We are excited about the
upcoming Middlewest Fest and want to invite you to join in on the celebration
of music and art. This festival is located in DeKalb, IL, close to Northern
Illinois University. A centrally located open air art market will be held in
the Palmer Court and Frank Van Buer Plaza in the downtown area. This year the
art market will be on Friday, September 9th
and Saturday, September 10, 2011 from
noon-8pm. Live music is scheduled throughout the day.
Musicians will play next to the art market and at several music venues within
walking distance. The art market also takes place next to the independent film
festival, ‘Against the Wall’, held at Debutantes School of Cosmetology in the
Palmer Court area.
This free to the public art
market emphasizes creative expression and will offer independently produced and
handmade goods to the 4,000 people expected to attend over two days. Artists
working in any medium are welcome to apply and encouraged to demonstrate. Only
artists and independent designers will be accepted into the art market.
Opportunities for dancers and performance artists are also available.

Vendor Information
Eligible Vendors: All artist and independent designers with original,
handcrafted brands wanting to exhibit and offer their work for sale. Middlewest
Fest Art Market will select vendors based on merchandise that will provide a
diverse variety of quality products. Please send us 2-3 images and provide a
brief description of the goods you plan to sell.
Fee: A 10’X10’ exhibition space is $100.00 for one day and
$150.00 for two days.
Application Deadline: Sunday, August 28. Spaces will be filled before then
as applications arrive and based on the merchandise offered.
Show Times: The market will open from 12:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday,
September 9 and Saturday, September 10. Vendor set up is at 9:30am-12:00pm.
Exhibit Space: Exhibitor spaces are 10’X10’. Artists will provide
their own merchandise displays, tent, signs, and demonstration props as needed.
Some electricity is available. Please let us know in advance if you need
electricity.
Sales Tax: Each vendor is responsible for collecting sales tax
and reporting it to the Illinois Department of Revenue. The sales tax rate for
goods sold in DeKalb, IL is 8%. Please visit the Illinois Department of Revenue
at www.revenue.state.il.us to register your business to sell in DeKalb and pay
sales tax.

conditions. Middlewest Music festival and Art Market and the City of DeKalb are
not responsible for theft, loss, or damages that may occur while at the market
and shall not be held liable for loss or damages due to weather, accidents,
mechanical malfunctions or any other cause.
